ଭାରତୀୟ ପରମ୍ପରାରେ ନାରୀ ମନର ଆଠଗୋଟି ଭାବାବେଗକୁ ନେଇ ଅଷ୍ଟନାୟିକାଙ୍କ ପରିକଳ୍ପନା। ନାଟ୍ୟଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଗୀତଗୋବିନ୍ଦ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପ୍ରମୁଖ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର, ସାହିତ୍ୟ, ନୃତ୍ୟ, ସଂଗୀତ, ଚିତ୍ର, ଭାସ୍କର୍ଯ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଭୃତିରେ ଏମାନଙ୍କ ଅସାମାନ୍ୟ ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠା ରହିଛି। ଗବେଷକର ମନ ନେଇ ଲେଖିକା ସେସବୁକୁ ଏକତ୍ର କଲାବେଳେ ନିଜସ୍ୱ ରୀତି ଅବଲମ୍ବନ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ଏହା ଗଦ୍ୟ ନା ସ୍ୱରଚିତ କବିତା ସଙ୍କଳନ ନା ନିର୍ବାଚିତ ଗୀତିକୋଷ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ନୁହେଁ; ବରଂ ଏହା ଗୋଟିଏ ସୁଖପାଠ୍ୟ ନୂତନ ପ୍ରକରଣ।
ଶ୍ରୀମତୀ ଚୌଧୁରୀଙ୍କ ବହିର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୋକ୍ତ ତଥ୍ୟ, ପ୍ରଦର୍ଶନ କଳାର ନିଦର୍ଶନ ଓ ନିଜସ୍ୱ କବିତା ଭିତରେ ପାଠକମାନେ ତାଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିଭଂଗୀଟିକୁ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ କରିପାରିବେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ସେ କହନ୍ତି, “ନାଟ୍ୟଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ହେଉ ବା କାବ୍ୟଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ହେଉ ଏ ସଭିଙ୍କର ରଚୟିତା ହେଲେ ପୁରୁଷ, ତେଣୁ ନାୟିକାର ତାତ୍ତ୍ୱିକ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ଓ ଆଲୋଚନାବେଳେ ପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିକୋଣରୁ ଓ ପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ହିଁ କରାଯାଇଛି।” ତେଣୁ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନଭର୍ତ୍ତୃକା, ବିରହାନ୍ତରିତା, ବାସକସଜ୍ଜା, କଳହାନ୍ତରିତା, ଖଣ୍ଡିତା, ପ୍ରୋଷିତଭର୍ତ୍ତୃକା, ବିପ୍ରଲବ୍ଧା ଓ ଅଭିସାରିକା ପ୍ରଭୃତି ନାୟିକାମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚିତ୍ରଣ କଲାବେଳେ ଲେଖିକା ସେଥିରୁ ମୁକୁଳିବା ପ୍ରୟାସ କରିଛନ୍ତି। କବିଚନ୍ଦ୍ର କାଳିଚରଣଙ୍କ ଗୀତିକା ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ନିଜ ରଚିତ ଗୀତ ଯୁକ୍ତ କରିଛନ୍ତି।
ଗ୍ରନ୍ଥର ସବୁଠୁ ହୃଦୟସ୍ପର୍ଶୀ ଅଂଶରେ ରହିଛି ମନୋରମାଙ୍କ ଲେଖନୀରୁ ଝରିଆସିଥିବା କବିତା। ଅଷ୍ଟନାୟିକା ଚେତନା ଯେ, ଖାଲି ପୁରାଣ, ଚମ୍ପୂ-ଚଉପଦୀ, ଆଉ ଚିତ୍ରନୃତ୍ୟ କଳାର ନାୟିକାଠାରେ ରହିଛି ତାହାନୁହେଁ ଆଜିର ଜୀବନରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହା ବିଦ୍ୟମାନ – କବିତାଗୁଡ଼ିକ ପଢୁପଢୁ ତାହା ଅନୁଭବ ହୁଏ। ‘ମାନସୀ ଆଜି ପାଦ କାଢ଼ିଛି, ଭେଟିବାକୁ ମାନସକୁ, ଉଭୟଙ୍କ ଚାକିରି ତାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରେମର ପ୍ରଥମ ବଇରୀ, ଦୁଇ ସହର ମଝିରେ ବୁଲାଣିଆ ଦୂରତା, ନା ସିଧାସଳଖ ଟ୍ରେନ୍ ଅଛି, ନା ସିଧା ଫ୍ଲାଇଟ୍, ମିଳନ ମୁହୂର୍ତ୍ତର ସ୍ୱପ୍ନରେ ମାନସୀର ମନ ଉବୁଟୁବୁ, ଦୁଇ ସହରର ମଝାମଝି, ସମୁଦ୍ରକୂଳିଆ ସୁନ୍ଦର ଏକ ରିସୋର୍ଟରେ, ଦେଖାହେବ ତାର ଆଜି ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟାରେ’ + + ମଝିରେ ମଝିରେ ମିଳନ ସ୍ମୃତି। ‘ତାଙ୍କ ବାହୁଭିଡ଼ାରେ ଲାଜକୁଳୀ ଲତାପରି, ତାର ଅଙ୍ଗର ଶିହରଣ, ପଛରୁ ଯେବେ ସେ କୋଳେଇ ନିଅନ୍ତି, ବେକ ସନ୍ଧିରେ ବୋକ ଦେଇ, ସେ ଉଷ୍ମ ନିଃଶ୍ୱାସର ଅନୁଭବ।’ ଅଭିସାରିକା ନାୟିକାର ଆଶଙ୍କା ବି କମ୍ ନୁହେଁ, ତଥାପି ସେ ଉନ୍ମନା, ପ୍ରଗଳ୍ଭ।
ବହିର ଇଂରାଜୀ ଅନୁବାଦ ଖୁବ୍ ଶୀଘ୍ର ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଇବ ବୋଲି ସୂଚନା ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି ଲେଖିକା। ନିଜ ସଂସ୍କୃତି ପ୍ରତି ଅଭିନିବିଷ୍ଟତା ବିନା ଏହା ସମ୍ଭବ ନୁହେଁ। ମନୋରମା ଚୌଧୁରୀ ତଥା ଅନ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରବାସୀ ଓଡ଼ିଆଙ୍କ ଅଦମ୍ୟ ଅଭିଯାନ ସ୍ୱାଗତଯୋଗ୍ୟ।
