A LITTLE OF MY STORY
A Cultural Thread Woven on a Delhi Afternoon
Time and again, I’ve noticed that we connect with people for reasons that only unfold later.
During a layover in Delhi, I planned to meet an author, who also happens to be a lawyer at the Supreme Court, with whom I had been in touch. We had agreed to meet at a sweet shop one afternoon. I took a cab and arrived at the spot, unaware that a pleasant surprise awaited me.
He had brought along a friend, Biswajit Das, an ardent lover of art and culture, who, fortunately or unfortunately, also happens to be in the field of law. What followed was an unexpectedly delightful afternoon. Perhaps it was the ambiance of Nathu Sweets, or perhaps it was just us, but the three of us shared an easy sense of humor that made the meeting a memorable one.
After a short but joyful exchange, we parted ways. Over the next few months, Biswajit and I stayed loosely in touch, with occasional exchanges of messages and relevant information. But he must have sensed my interest in literature. One day, he reached out and asked if I would write something about the poet Jayadeva.
I was hesitant at first. But when I mentioned it to my mentor, Dr. Jayakrushna Choudhury, he not only encouraged me but also suggested a title. And when he suggests something, I take it as an instruction I must follow.
What I didn’t expect was what came next: Biswajit had my article published in a beautifully designed, glossy coffee table magazine, Shrungar Saurabha by IPROCH (Institute for Promotion and Research on Odisha Culture and Heritage), a highly regarded organization that hosts notable cultural events in Delhi. The magazine was officially launched during IPROCH’s two-day, house-full event held from May 31 to June 1, 2025.

Thank you, Biraja bhai, for introducing me to a passionate art lover like him.
And Biswajit, thank you for placing your trust in me and for reaching out in such a thoughtful way. Congratulations to you and everyone associated with IPROCH. All your hard work truly shined, especially through Manini Radhika and the mesmerizing Odissi dance drama.
Our meeting reminded me once again that we connect with like-minded people for a reason, one that often turns out to be better than we ever imagined.
